Hi Chillicotheians,we are very excited (and a little nervous) and proud , to be opening up a new eating establishment(sp)on hwy 287, in between Dairy Queen, and Valley Pecans, some of you may know of the Rib Hut, in Vernon that is formerly owned and operated by Gordon and Laura Jane Haynes. we will be having it moved here hopefully around the first part of May,, and are planning to open by early Sept.,, reason for taking a while to get all water ,sewer ,electric, and getting the inside ready ,,,because when we do open we want it to be smoothe sailing, cause your first impression of a business has to be a good one, and we'd like to be well equipped on food , dishes , eating utensils ,etc. We only have five tables( i think)we are going to try and have a drive up window , we've been told we have good food,It'so good you'll think we stole your momma or grandma and they are in there cooking,we're not set on what's going to be on the menu, but we know we'll have tender mesquite smoked brisket ,prime rib, steaks , homade soups ,sometimes Jambalay, sometimes chicken and dumplings, and our banana pudding that you is getting some good reviews, Tommy and I (Sue) just want you all to know that we're new to this,so please be patient with us, cause we do take the time to make most of the food on the menu from scratch. We'll also take phoned in orders to go ,and we'll probably recommend phoneing in to reserve a table,as time nears ,we will put ads in the local paper, so we'd be pleased to have you all come eat with us,, thanks and hope to see you in the near future, oh,one more thing, the lot that we will be set up on is temporary we are interested in finding a place to buy on 287, preferaby on more on the east side of town,, if you have a place to sell we would be interested in seeing it,, i think i've rattled on enuf, please keep us in mind when Sept comes around,we think you'll be please ,, and we sure do like it when someone brings in a business to our lil town of Chillicothe , Tx, our motto is, " build it and they will come,"thanks and hope to see you all when we open . Tommy and Sue LOve phone # to call and let us know if you have or know of anyone that owns property on 287 . Tommy and Sue Love already had our food, because we are still doing catering ,fairs festivals ,etc out of our Mobile Kitchen,

Some of this sure brings back memories. Being in the Army for the past 18 years and being so far away from home (Okinawa, Japan), it's good to have a small glimpse of home every now and then. Of course, it's not the same as actually being there but it's still good to remember and hear from voices of the past. So much has changed in our hometown, but it's still home to me and no place in the world can replace the memories of growing up in Chillicothe, Tx.       Mitchell Burnett, Class of 81.

Truly enjoyed finding this site!! My name is Joy (Wolf) Priest and we lived there from 1967-1970. My mom (Mary Wolf) was a teacher at O'Dell. I have many fond memories of Chillicothe, playing with Starla Boone, Lori Meeks, Laurie Perkins, Kelly Rhue, going to elementary school (1st and 2nd grade). My teachers were Ms. Tabor (who is probably still there) and Ms. Riggins. We were babysat by Mrs. Burnett (Mike, Mark, Mitchell, and Marla) (Saw Mitchell's posting on here)and the Pecachek family (went to school with Peggy Pecachek) I remember going to church (Methodist) and going to the drugstore on the corner downtown. Bought a rolling pin for my grandma at that drugstore when I was 7 or 8 and she kept it for many years, giving it back to me Christmas 1993. Also remember Mr. and Mrs. Stone and family (Greg and Carroll Wayne) My Dad (Frank) was a "constable" for a while. Remember tornado clouds and running to the cellar at the Boone's house, being scared of a weather balloon in the sky (was told by older kids it was aliens), going to football games. Haven't been to Chillicothe since 1995 but maybe will get there again soon. Dad passed away in 1993 and brother Kirk passed away in 1995 (at age 33). Mom passed away April 2004. All three are buried in Vernon. Spent some time with Starla Boone (married to Carrol Wayne Stone at the time) in 1994. If she is still in Chilli tell her or her family hello from Joy.

Chillicothe lost a big fan yesterday when J.C. McClesky passed away. I can remember how mad he could get, he would pop his hands together with that big Aggie ring and scare me to death! Ha But, being a girl, I never got the punishment that I'm sure I deserved. He will be missed at the homecoming's. He loved Chillicothe, was a friend of my family I guess all my life. He was a big influence in a lot of our lives, my prayers are with his family at this sad time.
